Occupation and Livelihood

At present they are at the verge of extinct in the form of weaver due to the decline of spinning, herbal dying and weaving in the tribal villages on account of the availability of cheap and fine clothes and also due to shift to better opportunities in terms of remuneration and progress. However, significant number of families is sufferer of this decline and facing acute hardship for livelihood as they are landless also. Due to this reason, the members have moved to diversified occupation and regions now. They are found to be well spread in the different parts of the country in search of employment.

As per 2001 Census the population of total main workers was 14,318 only (32.23%). 67.43 per cent of the total main workers were engaged in Cultivation and 13.44 per cent Agricultural Labour. Only 1.95 per cent main workers were engaged in household industries and 17.17 per cent workers were in service sectors. Very few, but some members have managed to acquired good education from various fields like higher education technical education, medical, management, art and culture, etc. and some are engaged in related professions as well.
